From Cocoon to Butterfly

A tiny hole was made in a cocoon. The man watched for hours as the butterfly tried to protrude its body through this tiny hole. Then the butterfly stopped, as if tired and giving up. It was as if he had done what he could, and there was no more he could do. The man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and cut the cocoon to enlarge the hole. The butterfly came out easily. But his body was huge, his wings dry and wrinkled.

The man continued to watch the butterfly. Because he hoped that over time, his wings would grow and expand enough to support his body. This did not happen. In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with its huge body, and dry and wrinkled wings. The man’s hasty kindness was of no use. Because the butterfly had to struggle to get out of that tiny hole. This struggle was actually God’s way of making the living fluid flow from the butterfly’s body to its wings. This way, the butterfly would be ready to fly as soon as it escaped from the cocoon.

I wanted power!
God gave me challenges to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom!
God gave me problems to solve.
I wanted wealth!
God gave me brains and strong muscles to work out.
I wanted courage!
God gave me a danger to overcome.
I wanted the love!
God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favors!
God gave me opportunities.
I didn’t get anything I wanted, but…
I got everything I need.
